One of the key features of the Skylla-i 24/80 is synchronised parallel operation. Using the CAN bus interface, multiple chargers can be connected and operated in parallel via RJ45 UTP cables, allowing for efficient operation in larger systems. This ensures flexibility and scalability while maintaining high-performance charging.
To maximize battery longevity, the charger incorporates variable absorption time. This feature adjusts the charging duration based on the depth of battery discharge. For shallow discharges, the absorption time is kept short, preventing overcharging, while for deep discharges, it is extended to ensure the battery is fully recharged.
The BatterySafe mode ensures that your battery is charged safely, limiting the voltage increase once the gassing voltage is reached, which prevents potential damage caused by excessive gassing when charging quickly. Additionally, the Storage mode reduces the float voltage when the battery hasn't been discharged for 24 hours, helping to prevent gassing and corrosion. Once a week, the voltage is raised to refresh the battery and prevent sulphation and stratification, both common causes of early battery failure.
With temperature compensation, the Skylla-i includes a battery temperature sensor that automatically decreases the charging voltage in response to increasing battery temperature. This feature is particularly useful for sealed lead-acid batteries and when there are significant temperature fluctuations.
The voltage sense function compensates for any voltage loss that occurs due to cable resistance, ensuring the battery always receives the correct voltage for charging. This feature is essential for maintaining the health of the battery, especially in large systems where cable resistance can be a factor.
The Skylla-i 24/80(1+1) is suitable for both AC and DC supply (AC-DC and DC-DC operation), which provides flexibility in various setups. Additionally, the charger can be used as a power supply in scenarios where batteries or large buffer capacitors are not available, providing a stable output voltage for other applications.
The charger is Li-Ion (LiFePO4) ready, with easy integration into Li-Ion battery systems via simple on-off control or full control through the CAN bus port, offering both versatility and ease of use.
