To protect against excessive gassing and potential damage from high charge currents, the BatterySafe mode automatically limits the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage is reached, ensuring a safe and efficient charge.
For long-term storage, the Storage mode reduces the float voltage to minimize gassing and corrosion of the battery’s positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to refresh the battery, preventing issues like stratification and sulphation, which can significantly reduce battery life.
In addition, the Skylla-i 24/100 features temperature compensation, ensuring that the charge voltage automatically adjusts based on the battery’s temperature. This is especially helpful for sealed lead-acid batteries and environments with temperature fluctuations. The charger also compensates for voltage loss due to cable resistance with its voltage sense function, ensuring the battery receives the correct charge voltage.
The Skylla-i 24/100 charger is also Li-Ion ready, allowing you to connect it to a LiFePO4 Battery Management System (BMS) for easy voltage and current control via the CAN bus port or remote control port.
